Data protection
The Authority is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and this allows members to check that their details held are accurate. The Authority may, if it chooses, pass certain details to a third party if the third party is carrying out an administrative function of the Fund - the Fund's AVC provider, for example. This Authority is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers and, therefore, may use information for the prevention and detection of fraud. It may also share this information with other bodies administering public funds solely for these purposes. Additionally the Fund may respond to requests for personal information from other public bodies e.g. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in connection with their statutory duties. Members have a right to see a copy of the information held about them on application to the Authority's Data Protection Officer who can be contacted on (01226) 772244 or via email at Data Protection Officer.
Virus issues
The Authority does not accept responsibility for loss or damage which may occur from the use of downloaded material and recommends that users re-check all downloaded materials using their own virus security software.
